The IMAGO THEATRE GROUP was established in Delhi in 2002 to after the trained students of IMAGO ACTING SCHOOL a platform to further develop their skills and understanding of their craft. It is widely accepted that theatre's processes offer actors the most rigorous and disciplined training regimen that's possible, and in ways that are more creative and humane.
Beyond a number of in-house presentations and workshops by its members, the group has devised, scripted and performed three full-length plays which together comprise a trilogy, entitled "The Honey Trilogy".
The first play, "It's All About Money, Honey", traces the career of a Delhi actor and his meteoric rise to stardom and ignominy in Bollywood. It was performed in the Bharat Rang Mahotsav in 2002; The Sangeet Natak Akademi's National Festival in Mumbai; The delhi Government's Weekend Theatre Programme; and other events in Delhi, Chandigarh and Jammu.
The second play. "It's All About God, Honey" was the group's response to the arson, rape and murder that was sanctioned in Gujarat in 2002. It was ultimately an attempt to comprehend communalism and terrorism, and incorporated sequences on film.
The third play, "It's All About Sex, Honey", explored the compulsions and obsessions that are rooted in sexual desire, and contextualized in the shenanigans of a television company, both in front of and behind the cameras.
All the three plays of the trilogy were performed and filmed in the group's own independent festival at Kamani Auditorium in New Delhi in 2006.
Since relocating in Mumbai, Imago Theatre Group has produced "Baghdad Ka Gulam", a zestful adaptation of Carlo Goldoni's classic comedy "The Servant of Two Masters", with public performances in Juhu and Bandra
